Each week’s Christmas Bowl Appeal donations go to a different cause and this week we are raising money to help communities grow enough food in Zimbabwe. Please read through the material below for more information. Without food there is no life. Ensuring food security is essential to help the people of Zimbabwe survive drought.
Helping to grow enough food in Zimbabwe
Right now, families in Zimbabwe are malnourished and face extreme hunger. Around 70 percent of Zimbabwe’s rural population rely on agriculture for their food and income, and have been severely affected in recent years by drought, political violence and economic crises. – See the rest of this story by clicking this link – www.actforpeace.org.au/Christmas-Bowl/About/Stories/Zimbabwe – and you can watch the video below.
The difference your gifts to the Christmas Bowl are making:
Act for Peace’s partner in Zimbabwe, Christian Care, has worked with thousands of farmers in conservation farming techniques. The program focuses on farmers in drought-prone areas, and has dramatically improved their capacity to provide food for their families while reducing dependency on food aid.
1 in 3 people in rural Zimbabwe are facing devastating food shortages and extreme hunger.
$90 can teach conservation farming techniques to a group of farmers in Zimbabwe so they can grow enough to feed their families.
The Christmas Bowl represents churches working together through Act For Peace, the aid arm of the National Council of Churches.
