Our reading programme is worked out each December for the following year. Everyone makes suggestions and a designated two people select the next year’s books. We try to have a balance of books, some with religious issues, some current issues, some novels and biographies. They are chosen for their potential to create dynamic discussion on secular as well as theological thinking… occasionally we get a bit carried away!

The openness of members in expressing enthusiasm, doubt or disagreement helps free us from the automatic repetition of the unchallenged assumptions of our youth.

We have to warn you: we do have a tendency to think outside the square.

Some of the books we’ve read over the last few months:

When the Crocodile Eats the Sun by Peter Godwin

Landscape of Farewell by Alex Miller

From Sand to Solid ground by Michael Morwood

On Experience by David Malouf – This book is now in the Church’s library – see it’s review by clicking this link. The ANZ LitLovers LitBlog (an online reading group for Australian and New Zealand lovers of literary fiction) has an interesting blog if you’d like to check it out.

Anyone can take part in this group!

We see it as a place to share ideas. Please contact the office for more information.

Keep an eye on the News to keep up with the next book and meeting place.
