We enjoyed an inspiring day at the Church and Community Development Day on Saturday September 15. The guest speakers were Paul Turley from Clayton Wesley UCA, Jo Hubbard from Marion Life Community Services at Marion Church of Christ, and Peter Kenyon. The Blackwood area was well represented with representatives from both BUC and Blackwood Church of Christ (BCoC). Peter Kenyon, in particular, shared several practical stories about community development and some strategies to help make them happen, with resources and more available on his Bank of IDEAS website at www.bankofideas.com.au. The philosophical basis for the Bank of IDEAS incorporates ten operational beliefs focused primarily on community ownership, relationship building, focus on their own abilities and skills, and approaching a problem through conversation to generate energy and creativity.
