Blackwood Uniting Church as Bushfire Refuge
Where do you go on high fire risk days?
Blackwood Uniting Church will be OPEN to the community on CATASTROPHIC fire risk days as a supervised SAFER FIRE REFUGE providing a place where members of the Blackwood community can gather in relative safety for as long as necessary. Pets may accompany their owners provided that they are fully controlled.
The Church has been approved by the CFS and is within the Blackwood “safer precinct”. At least two carers will be on duty to assist those using the Church as a refuge.
On Catastrophic days, with the exception of Sunday church services, our programs are suspended to ensure that the facilities are available to the public.
Church members willing to add their names to the list of volunteers carers should contact Russell Grear on 8278 1178.
