Wilks Oration – Recognition
It’s time to recognise First Australians in the Constitution.
Tanya Hosch, a Torres Strait Islander, will deliver the annual WILKS ORATION at the Effective Living Centre.
Tanya has roles in Australian Red Cross, Bangarra Dance Theatre, The Australian Centre for Social Innovation and The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Equality Council. Speaking at the National Press Club in 2013, she said, “There comes a time, in the life of every nation, when it must put right the injustices of the past. A time to say ’no more’ to exclusion and prejudice. A time for us to be our better selves…”
This Wilks Oration will be held on Friday 12 June at 7:45pm at the Effective Living Centre (26 King William Rd., Wayville). Doors open at 7:00pm and music will be provided by an Aboriginal artist in the auditorium from 7:15pm while you enjoy drinks in the foyer. Supper will follow the oration.
