Blackwood Uniting Church as Christian Community
Anne Grear’s funeral last Tuesday was a time of celebration even in the midst of grief and it was a statement of Anne’s impact over the last 50 years that we saw almost every minister and ministry candidates who have served at Blackwood over that time. We were able to demonstrate our love for Anne and support for Russell by being present.
The occasion was an example of what this community is as it loved, grieved, supported and contributed to the day.
You are a shining example of what Micah says the Lord requires: “to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” The funeral director remarked to me about impressed he was with BUC as community – and rightly so.
Thank you for your practice of faith and community. I would especially like to acknowledge the leadership role of Jacqui Harrison as she coordinated the office’s response and doing those things that need doing, even as she grieved herself.
It is a good place that Blackwood is in as it demonstrates what it means to be a beacon of light here on the Roundabout.
Thank God for each one of you!
Adrian
