Roundabout Playgroup
Roundabout Playgroup finished for 2014 on Monday with 31 families and 44 children coming for a wonderful Christmas celebration, with special Christmas activities, including ‘Nice’ gingerbread houses (thanks, Cogs), Christmas plaster figures to paint (thanks to creative mum, Briony), carol singing with the Marriott trio + Ewan on clarinet, and the Christmas story told by Carys. Sadly we said farewell to 12 children (who are moving on to Kindy, school or ELC), three of our parent helpers and two families who have been with us since we started in 2010. Rev Phil came and presented their certificates as each one blew out the candle for the last time. We received many thanks for our program, including this via email:
It will certainly be sad to say good bye to playgroup. It has been part of our family’s life for 3 & a half plus years now. I hope [you all] know [you] do an amazing job of educating our kids, and supporting us young parents as we fumble thru. The Thyer Mrotek family can’t thank you enough. Thank you for opening up your lives and church to our family and the Blackwood community.
My thanks to all our volunteers, you really do an amazing job: the morning tea people who serve with a smile so faithfully and are the face of our hospitality; John W who will do anything to help, from cutting up tinsel to cleaning up the mess afterwards and too much more to list; Bruce M who is honorary grandfather, occasional musician & storyteller, mat roller & master of the vacuum cleaner; Glenis who manages the database, email list and welcome desk brilliantly; Jean P who not only attends to property matters but sets up (along with husband Rob), puts away, reads stories, cuts up craft materials, holds babies and much more; Helen J and parent rep Briony who uncomplainingly cut up all sorts of materials for our weekly crafts; Anthony F who has joined our setting up team and Jan F who copes very efficiently with my spendages, & Brian P also in the financial backroom; Russell & the property committee for on-going support & maintenance (thanks for the newly-varnished tables & the revamp of the store room J ), and last but by no means least, Carys and Cogs who do just about everything else as well as all the above.
If you would like to join this fabulous team in 2015, do talk to me. Marnie Agnew.
