Dear Friends of Blackwood Circle of Friends for Refugees:-

Merry Xmas and thank you for your support. Right now at Xmas we are helping families who could do with some Xmas cheer. In one family the father is going without food to make sure his young daughters get enough to eat. Yes – here in Adelaide. The barriers of trauma, language and culture allow families like this to fall through the net. Another family was looking at homelessness but our generous members have been able to help.

Another couple, brave people who are paying a high price for standing up for political prisoners in their own country, spend Xmas trying to stay optimistic as they wait and wait ( it’s been years) for the opportunity to apply for one of the Government’s new temporary visas.

Because of the generosity of our members and the success of our fundraising we have been able to help refugees get some legal advice for this visa process. How frightening to go before a group of bureaucrats who rake over the details of your life and pick over the greatest trauma of your life. At least with some legal help their paperwork can be done well.
