An SA History Festival Highlight
Do you remember the old Religious Instruction in state schools, which ran, or often limped along, from 1940 until 1968? What about the 1970s project to get a proper Religious Education program into the syllabus? Why didn’t that take off?
The history of these important matters is the subject of a new book, Exploring Religion in State Schools: the Story of the Religious Education Project, which will be launched on Sunday 29 May by former Minister for Education, Dr Don Hopgood. Authors of the book – Malcolm McArthur, Alan Ninnes and Peter Russell – were key drivers of the Religious Education project and they will be present to talk about it and answer your questions. Plan to be there!
Sunday 29 May 2016, 2:00p to 4:00p,
concluding with afternoon tea.
