National Conference of Lay Preachers
In 2020 a National Conference of Lay preachers was one of many events postponed due to COVID. In 2021 the National Conference is proceeding but as an on-line event, not a face-to-face event.
Same theme: Lay Preaching Unleashed
Same weekend in September: Sat 11th and Sunday 12th.
Same organisers: Synod of Queensland and Trinity College, Queensland’s theological college.
Similar program: most of the same topics but with shorter sessions to take account of the reality that on-line conferencing is a lot more tiring:
- Indigenous matters
- multicultural
- rural
- theological and biblical understanding
- contemporary worship
- music
- children’s ministry.
Similar audience: For lay preachers, prospective lay preachers and those interested in leading worship.
Reduced cost: The cost of the National Conference is now just $20
The change to on-line conference means there is no longer the expense of travel of accommodation, so while we will be missing the joys of catching up with old friends and making new ones, we are hoping that the new arrangements will mean many more people will register. The team in Queensland have done an enormous amount of work, and it would be fabulous tor that to be rewarded with lots of “customers”.
