As your BUC representatives on the Council, Carys Penny and I attended the recent MHICC meeting  held at Belair UC.

This Council supports 7 Pastoral Care Workers in 5  schools in our local area.

Belair Primary (1), Blackwood High (1), Blackwood Primary (2), Coro Valley Primary (1), plus Murphy the new Therapy dog, and Hawthorndene (2).

All of the schools are delighted with and supportive of these excellent PCWs.

The Council also supports the wonderful initiative ‘Beacon’, which is an invaluable asset to the many families suffering hardship, and in need of groceries, vouchers, counselling and advice in difficult times. Beacon operates from Blackwood Church of Christ on Wednesday mornings.

All the local churches financially support the Council to enable these opportunities to function. From time to time fund raisers are held to raise necessary extra funds.
