Thank you
Thank you so much for your thoughtful expressions of sympathy. It has meant a lot to me to receive those messages.
I am devastated and heart broken, but so thankful for a son like Sam.
He made the decision himself that he could no longer keep going, but said he wanted to have a couple of days of fun. That was exactly what happened! Sam had been calm and articulate as he told the doctors “It was time to go”.
Sam enjoyed all the visitors who were so keen to see him one last time, in the last 2 or 3 days.
He thanked everyone including his Mum and Dad saying we had been awesome!!
It was Sam’s wish to have one last [but it turned out to be two] drinks of Jim Beam and Coke, which was his favourite beverage. We snuck some nice glasses into the hospital and shared a drink with him; his two brothers and his Mum and Dad.
I am so grateful to have shared with him in the last few days. Even as he took his last breath there was a clear response to me as I expressed deep sadness, and yet appreciation for the amazing journey.
Sam also made it clear that he was so glad I had Anthony to support me!!
Sam was an inspirational human being!!
Thank you again, to all our friends at BUC
