I’ve endeavoured to capture the essential elements of this ancient prayer in a way that might speak to modern ears, eyes, hearts and minds.

Our Ultimate Reality, beyond time and space

Our Intimate Reality, source of love and meaning

In whom we live and move and have our being

 May your Reality become our reality

May your Will and Desire become our will and desire

 May our essential needs be satisfied

 Forgive us our incessant desires

As we forgive those whose incessant desires intrude on our essential needs

 May we not be pushed beyond the limits of our endurance

And save us being drawn into self-destructive ways

 You weave together the very fabric of creation

You invite us to be willing threads of meaning

Yours is the glory and wonder

Now and forever
