Bruce is Farewelled in Playgroup July 2023
Sadly, we had to say goodbye and thanks to Bruce Marriott who at 87 has decided the time has come to retire from Playgroup.
For more than 13 years Bruce has been a “great” grandfather to the children at playgroup, all of whom have adored him and the current children will miss him very much. Bruce has played with them, sat with and listened to both children and adults, supervised children in the playground, drunk endless imaginary cups of tea in the home corner, read stories, played his recorder for Christmas carols and other sundry musical events, helped set up and pack up, vacuumed the carpets and shifted more tables than he should have.
And who will the children roll up the carpets with now?
We presented him with some book vouchers, so he won’t be bored, some chocolates because we know he loves them, a card with photos of the children, signed by the adults, and one of our day carers compiled a booklet of photos of Bruce in various activities with the children.
We also presented him with the traditional Roundabout Playgroup Graduation Certificate which recorded our thanks for outstanding and much-appreciated service to the success of Roundabout Playgroup and acknowledged that he will be greatly missed We farewelled him with cake and other party food at morning tea.
