Happy 3rd Birthday to BUC Live-Streaming
It’s hard to believe that we have just ticked over 3 years of live-streaming of our worship services here at Blackwood Uniting Church! How time flies (streams?) when you’re having fun?! The Worship Committee has just had a review of our live-streaming, of what works, of what can be improved or done differently, and it is appropriate to acknowledge some people at this time.
A huge thanks to our technical guru, Tim Lee. At the beginning of the COVID restrictions in 2020, Tim displayed true leadership in responding to our inability to attend live worship. He invested an enormous amount of time and effort into pre-recording our worship services, stepping preachers, worship leaders, singers and band members through a very big learning curve, so that people could participate in worship online from their homes.
After helping the church in such a big way, Tim took things to another level, when he and Jacqui Harrison successfully applied for a grant that allowed us to set up live-streaming. When we were able, once again, to worship in person, worship services could now be live-streamed on the internet, a great benefit to those people who, through illness or travel, couldn’t attend worship, or who didn’t yet feel safe to attend worship in person. This live-streaming, of both our 9.15am and 11.00am services, continues to this day, and continues to be appreciated by many.
A huge thankyou to Tim, and to the live-stream operators whom Tim has trained and who generously give of their time in this way: Ray Bown, Anthony Furness, Peter Stead, and Mark Gill. Thank you all, so much!
