Palestine / Israel Crisis (2)
As the horror of conflict continues in Israel and Palestine we have been called to prayer by Christians in what many still call “The Holy Land.” I have received a request this morning from Rev Jack Sara from Bethlehem Bible College, which I will also attach. The suffering of all those affected is deplored, but as he says:
“We pray for sincere, good-faith dialogue and mediation for a just peace and reconciliation. We also know that in order to reach true and viable peace we must address the root causes of the problem. Palestinians have been experiencing ongoing injustice and displacement for more than 75 years. The siege on Gaza must end. Oppression, walls, sieges, and colonization cannot bring security or peace.”
A long-term advocate for peace in that troubled land is Bishop George Browning, a past speaker at a Wellspring National Conference. His article in Pearls and Irritations yesterday is attached, giving a perspective that receives little coverage in our media.
Please join with me in constant prayers for peace with justice,
Doug Hewitt
