FORMER MINISTER, NEAR RETIREMENT, INSTEAD WALKS 14.6 km FOR A PURPOSE
On Friday next week, October 20, Phil Hoffmann, elderly of body with decrepit limbs is walking to school from Henley to Westminster, Marion. The walk to school is in solidarity with children aged 5 to 12 were walking daily 13 kilometres – both ways – to get to the nearest Government-provided school. Unlike Phil’s, their journey was perilous subject to wildlife, falls and other dangers. The requirement to travel this distance also drastically reduces the hours of the school day. Even with a school being built, the community counts in the 9% of the global population without access to clean, safe drinking water.
Phil will be joined by Westminster students – 168 of them – and his own children, Olivia and Lewis, known to this community.
