Grandparents Day at the Roundabout Playgroup
The rooms were buzzing with chatter and activity as children and grandparents made possums, painted, played with playdough and sought out their favourite toys.
We gathered for the story “Possum Magic” by Mem Fox, and sang some fun songs about possums and grandparents, and danced “Here we go round the lamington plate”, ‘visiting’ several cities round Australia with placards. Then we gathered for a sumptuous Possum Magic morning tea of vegemite sandwiches, pumpkin scones, Anzac biscuits, lamingtons and a delicious pavlova made by playgroup mum Bianca.
As one grandma said, “We’ll all remain visible after this!” All agreed it was a wonderful morning celebrating grandparents and thanking them for their contribution to their families, and the blessing that they are. And I loved the feeling of friendship and camaraderie in the group.
