Invitation to Workshop: Peer Support and Resilience
You are warmly invited to join us for a one-day workshop on Peer Support and Resilience, led by Rev. Dr. Stephen Robinson. This is an incredible opportunity you won’t want to miss!
Workshop Details:
- When: Thursday, 3rd October 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM
- Where: Westbourne Park UC
- Who should attend: Ministry Agents, Chaplains, and Pastoral Care Leaders, Church Council leaders and anyone else who would be interested.
Rev. Dr. Stephen Robinson, the National Disaster Recovery Officer for the Uniting Church, brings years of experience in crisis and disaster ministry. He will guide us through critical insights on how trauma impacts ministers and faith communities, often exposing the lack of preparedness for crises and their aftermath.
Stephen’s research, supported by a Churchill Fellowship, includes interviews with faith leaders about their responses to violent attacks on houses of worship, such as the Christchurch Mosque mass shooting and the assassination of a British MP at a UK Methodist Church. These events deeply impacted the affected communities and offer essential lessons on managing crises.
Drawing from his experiences, Stephen will discuss the dynamics that unfold when a congregation faces a crisis, focusing on the support and resources available for leaders and how we can better equip ourselves to respond and recover in the face of trauma and loss.
