Uniting Church News & Events
- If you would like to support SAYCO in prayer, email sayco@sa.uca.org.au with “SAYCO prayer” in the subject line to receive a SAYCO prayer calendar. This is a great opportunity to be a part of this exciting event that serves youth from all over SA – whether you are attending SAYCO and/or partnering in prayer.
- Our partner church in the Philippines (UCCP) has called on the UCA to condemn the recent harassment of Pastor June Ver Mangao and to expose continuing human rights violations in the Philippines. A letter writing campaign has been prepared by the Vic/Tas Synod. Read the letter pinned on the main foyer noticeboard and follow their suggestions to stand alongside the UCCP.
- Artist in residence Cath Lappin has designed a wonderful program “Playing with Light” using photography and different techniques to explore this year’s theme. No experience necessary, just a willingness to have a play. Create an artwork from your own photos, or try the cyanotypes process with light sensitive paper and fabric. Tuesday 8 Oct – Sun 13 October various times. Children welcome to some sessions. More details are avaiable at effectiveliving.org or phone 8271 0329. Bookings are essential!
- Adverse asylum seeker policies are having a detrimental effect on the people in Inverbrackie. In order to lift spirits and coax them out into the spring sunshine, the Inverbrackie Good Neighbour Council has organised a Spring Fair on Saturday 12 October with musicians, face painters, balloon animal artists and more coming to bring smiles to the faces of the Inverbrackie community. If you can offer any assistance to the day please contact info@ignc.org or call 8391 5218.
