Messy Church
We have kicked off in 2024 with joy after the attempt at the picnic in February was flattened by heat (though those few of us who went had a lovely time!). We had about 36 people at our March celebration, in which we started our year of Prayer with a bit of learning about the time of Lent, with children making prayer bead necklaces, and hand paintings of angels, and planting seeds to help us consider this season of transformation. At our next session, on April 7, we will spend some time learning about the Lord’s Prayer.
In a bit of related news to share, the Mills family are going overseas for the year of 2025, so Bonnie will be unable to facilitate Messy Church during that time. We will need some extra help to keep providing this ministry to our families, so if you think you may be able to contribute even a few times over the course of the year, by organising crafts or activities prior, or helping to run events at the gatherings, or to share a story at the celebration, please contact Bonnie Mills, or Adrian Brown. Please keep the Messy Church team and families in your prayers in this regard.
Messy Youth Group
For many years we have had a Messy Youth group running in parallel with the normal Messy Church programme. Sadly, since Covid, it did not really get underway again. However last Messy Church day was different. There were 6 young people who effectively graduated into the group which was an exciting time for Nancy and Peter. They finally had an opportunity to re-start and brush off the cobwebs. If you judge by the amount of chatting that went on, all of the young people were engaged and into it!! Conversations varied from splitting an atom to reading the book of Numbers!! So we are looking forward to what the next one will involve as these young people are encouraged to explore their faith and understanding of what Jesus may say to them in this time and place.
Please support these young people and keep them in your thoughts and prayers, as they truly engage in this journey.
