The Church is a Bushfire Retreat
Blackwood Uniting Church is a Bushfire Retreat on days declared as an “Extreme” or “Catastrophic” bushfire risk. The Church is within the CFS designated “safer precinct” and will be open to the public from around 9am until as late as necessary.
At least two Church members will be rostered to supervise those who wish to use this community service. Basic facilities will be available for those who come, emergency equipment is provided, and the CFS is aware that the Church is a refuge. Please tell your friends and neighbours.
Church members planning to “Leave their Home” on high fire risk days are invited to volunteer to act as Supervisors at the Church. Training and check lists outlining your responsibilities will be provided. Please contact Russell Grear or Bob Lyon if you are willing to help or to obtain more information.
