Math Science Teacher Wanted
Wanted: Teacher (possibly retired) or Uni student to teach Maths & Science to a 15 year old girl in the Seacombe area. Commitment required.
A teenage girl & her family, asylum seekers from Sri Lanka, have been housed under Community Detention at Seacombe.
Last week she began attending Year 10 at Seaview High School and has missed out on this term’s work – she is highly aware of the deficits in her knowledge of Maths & Science.
Four years ago this family (a mother and 3 children) was displaced from their home in Sri Lanka due to the civil war. They have finally reached a place where they can feel safe.
She is the eldest child. All the children have all missed out on four years’ education. She is a high achiever and desperately wants to catch up to her peers as soon as possible. She is brave and studious, but it is overwhelming to face a new school, to feel unwelcome, to struggle with reading text books. She has endured much with great fortitude … we need to find tutor(s) who can guide her studies & assist her to catch up.
This is a golden opportunity to meet a wonderful family – all are gracious, polite, conservative & appreciative of every effort.
