A REMINDER IN THE SEASON OF LENT
You can still join our Lent Reminder!
In busy daily lives with activity crowding out quiet, the intent behind this notion is to use our common and everyday technology to provide a personal reminder of the Lent’s opportunity for pause and reflection. Lent has traditionally been the six weeks leading up to Easter, a period for examination of our lives and decision for change (sometimes described as ‘time of penitence’).
It will happen like this:
- Those who chose to participate will provide the Blackwood Uniting Office with a number for a mobile phone of your personal use.
- We will use that number to send a SMS/text message reminder to you once-weekly during Lent.
As you go about your day’s duties and involvements, a ring tone on your phone will be an (unexpected) reminder of the coming Easter and its story, and the invitation of Lent to stop a moment and reflect. It may come as a surprise, even an interruption.
But it will cause you to stop at least for a moment and remember – Lent.
How you do that will be completely up to you. The text simply acts as a ‘prompt’.
